 Christos Theofilis, born in 1956 in Piraeus, Greece, is a notable visual artist known for his contributions to the Greek art scene. He founded the alternative cultural organization 'Art Act' , which became a central hub for artists and art administrators, providing a space for productive meetings and artistic exchange. This organization significantly helped in rekindling interest in Theofilis among the Greek art community during a period when he had stepped back from the commercial art scene. His work during his time away was characterized by an inner strength, leading to a continuous evolution in his artistic expression.


Theofilis has also established the Contemporary Art Institute Art-Act in Athens, focusing on collecting and collating information for research and study purposes related to the works of visual artists, including graduates and students from the School of Fine Arts. His involvement in the art world extends beyond creation; he has served as an art critic and curator for several exhibitions, contributing regularly to newspapers like "Η Αυγή" and "Ο Χρόνος," among others.

His artwork has been described as embodying various versions of plasticity and expression, with critics like Costas Stavropoulos praising his innovative approach to visual art. Theofilis has supervised numerous art publications, including limited edition albums that explore themes from Greek shadow theater to tributes to literary figures like Oscar Wilde and Yannis Ritsos.

Christos Theofilis continues to live and work in Athens, Greece, maintaining an active presence in the art community both as an artist and a cultural organizer.
